Tyson®: Ready for Slow Cooker

While shopping in the meat section the other day, I came across these nifty bundles by Tyson®. I was intrigued by this package that included a nice piece of pork roast, a collection of potatoes, vegetables, and a seasoning packet. What had caught my attention was one of Tyson's® Ready for Slow Cooker kits. The kits come in several varieties: beef roast, pork roast, and beef stew. They have everything you need for a complete meal - just add water! As someone who loves to eat but dislikes cooking, this was something I had to try, because Tyson® practically takes preparation right out of the equation! All I had to do was open the package (the meat is separated from the veggies and potatoes and all are vacuum sealed), arrange everything in the slow cooker, combine the seasoning packet with a cup of water, pour the mixture into my slow cooker, and turn it on low. When I got home, I walked into a delicious smelling kitchen and a slow cooker full of a tasty dinner! It doesn't get any easier than that. The Tyson® Ready for Slow Cooker kits are very reasonably priced, and the food is good quality. We got two full meals out of it, and there is enough pork left over to make sandwiches for lunch tomorrow. It's probably enough to feed four people, depending on what your preferred portion sizes are. Both my fiance and I enjoyed the meal very much. I will definitely be purchasing a kit again soon!

CeraVe® Hydrating Cleanser

Winter is the most difficult season for managing my skin. Because of the cold, humidity-free air, my face dries out. But, the second I try to moisturize it, I experience a breakout. On the other hand, if I don't moisturize, my skin creates excess oil to compensate for the dryness! I'm always trying new products, and recently I discovered a cleanser that helps me balance my skin. CeraVe® Hydrating Cleanser is a gift from the heavens. It is fragrance free, non-irritating, and noncomedogenic. CeraVe® does not foam or lather, and it is the gentlest facial cleanser I have ever used that still leaves my face feeling clean. CeraVe® has a patented technology called Multivesicular Emulsion, or MVE. Basically, MVE allows moisture to be released slowly into the skin, and then prevents it from evaporating afterward. CeraVe® is an advanced cleanser that can be used by all skin types. Because of its gentle effectiveness I recommend it to anyone. You can read more about CeraVe® Hydrating Cleanser on their website, or follow this link to like them on Facebook!

a Wicked DIY Life - easy wedding favors with a special meaning

While my friend Colleen and I share a lot of the same great qualities, there's one trait she has that I certainly cannot claim: a knack for all things DIY! While I am creative, I'm certainly not crafty. Colleen has both of those down pat, and her website, a Wicked DIY Life, is a showcase of her ideas and skills. Colleen's focus is mainly home improvement and decorating, but she features product reviews and special occasion projects as well. Since DIY can be a big money saver, I'm thankful that Colleen will be helping me with some aspects of my upcoming wedding, such as invitations and favors. Colleen writes about wedding favors on her website, and her views mirror mine. Here is a quote from her article. "My thoughts on favors: Most favors are thrown out eventually, so I wanted to provide my guests with something they could cherish forever. When deciding on your favors, choose something that means something to you, not just something that’s “cute” or “fits in the budget.” Most people don’t need another book or matches with your names on it. Put your money towards something better." Colleen's wedding favors were so meaningful - the perfect way to honor her husband's late mother. My fiance and I are considering using the same favors for our own wedding, as we lost his stepfather to cancer just a few months ago. Here is a link directly to her article on wedding favors, and here is the link to the Wicked DIY homepage. Enjoy!

Cuckoo for Coco...nuts?

...baby coconuts that is! While shopping at a natural food store, my future mother in law came across coquito nuts, also known as baby coconuts. If you're having trouble imagining why, picture a coconut. Now picture a shrink ray zapping said coconut. Result = coquito! Coquitos are about a half inch in diameter and have a crunchy brown exterior and a white interior that is similar in color, consistency, and taste to a coconut. Coquitos can be eaten as is (just be careful if you have sensitive teeth), or chopped up and used for a variety of cooking purposes. They are a tasty, unique, and fun snack! For nutritional facts and recipes, or to order coquitos online, you can take a look at the Frieda's Produce website. I'll probably be making the Chocolate-Covered Coquito Nuts sometime soon. You can make the Coquito Nut Composed Fruit Salad and let me know how it is. ;)

GO...Zoya!

My entire life I have been a nail-biter. Finally, at the age of 25, I had enough and decided to get a set of acrylic nails. Once I was getting my nails done regularly, I started paying more attention to nail polish related websites and posts. Around that time, a friend (owner of Confessions of a Sarcastic Mom, a great blog with a plethora of polish posts) shared the Facebook page of Zoya Nail Polish and Treatments because they were running an amazing promo: buy one get two free. I purchased my first three Zoya polishes and was hooked from then on. There are many reasons to love Zoya, but here are my top three: 1) - the quality of the polishes. They last for weeks on natural or acrylic nails. 2) - the customer service. Whether it be running generous promos or quickly replacing a damaged order, Zoya takes care of their customers. 3) - the environmentally friendly formula. All polishes are formaldehyde, toluene, camphor, and dibutyl phthalate free. Check out Zoya's websiteFacebook page, or follow them on Twitter and give their polishes a try!

Shark Attack!

I love a clean house, but I do not like to clean! So, until the day I can afford to hire myself a housekeeper, I'm always on the lookout for products that make cleaning easy. We have a white tile kitchen floor, and I noticed that it was getting pretty dingy. The products I were using just weren't cutting it anymore. In fact, they were adding to the grime by leaving a layer of cleaner on the floor. A friend told me about the Shark ® steam products. After borrowing her steam mop, I was hooked! I received my own as a Christmas present, and gave one as a birthday gift to my mother, who, after borrowing mine, had to have her own. Simply using the power of steam, Shark ® quickly deep cleans and sanitizes floors. There are so many pros to this product: it's lightweight, it cleans a variety of surfaces, and it heats up in about 30 seconds! Because it only needs water, there is no need to keep buying refills of liquid cleaning product. Also, the cleaning pad is reusable - simply toss it in the washing machine (I wash mine with my towels) when it gets dirty. You're saving money and being environmentally friendly at the same time! If I can save green and be green, I'm happy. The biggest "pro" of this product? It cleans my floors better than any other product I have used. Shark ® makes several reasonably priced steam products, so check out their website to find the product that is right for you! You can also like their Facebook page here.

P.S. eos

Remember my recent post on eos's Smooth Sphere Lip Balm? Well, my obsession caused to me to search the web for the limited edition Passion Fruit flavor that was only sold as part of a set. I am happy to report that Passion Fruit is just as lip-smoothingly delicious as the others, and it has made its way into my top 3 flavor choices, along with Strawberry Smoothie and Summer Fruit! Keep in mind that some of the balms have different purposes (Medicated Tangerine and Lemon Drop SPF 15) so consider that when making your choice! If you are interested in purchasing the Passion Fruit flavor, Stella's HTF Style is the ebay store from which I got mine. It was the most reasonably priced set I could find. Enjoy!

Nylabone Dura Chew

While speaking with a fellow labradorer at work the other day, I found myself in yet another conversation about how our beloved pups have the tendency to destroy toys. I'm always on the search for "tough toys," and Nylabone Dura Chew is just that. One of Nylabone's greatest qualities is that they are long lasting, which is a money saver! My 60 pound chocolate lab and my parents' 70 pound black lab adore the Nylabones. It is their go-to toy, and it keeps them occupied for long periods of time. It takes months before the bones need to be replaced, and that should be done once the knuckles of the bone have been worn away. Nylabone products are made of a synthetic polymer that are designed into a bone shape. They come in bacon, liver, chicken, and original flavors. Nylabones are designed to be strong, but of course, persistent chewers may prevail, and small rice-sized pieces may raise up and flake off the bone. As long as these pieces remain small they will safely pass through the dog's digestive system. From the description on the Nylabone website, the bones are "designed for powerful chewers. Bristles raised during chewing help clean teeth and control plaque & tartar build-up."  If your dog is an extremely aggressive chewer and is ripping off larger pieces, it is recommended that you take away the bone. As always, whenever introducing a toy to your pooch, be sure to provide supervision until you can judge how your dog is handling the toy. Visit Nylabone on Facebook or check out the Nylabone website to find the product that is right for your dog!

Stonyfield Farm - Chocolate Underground Organic Yogurt

I have always been cognizant of the fat and calorie content of the food I buy, but lately I've also been focusing on ingredients and trying to buy more organic products. My favorite discovery is Stonyfield's Organic Chocolate Underground Fat Free Yogurt, which I decided to try because it had the word chocolate on the package. :) I bought the 6 oz. cups of vanilla over chocolate yogurt and poured in about an eighth of a cup of Grape Nuts because I like the crunch. You can mix it all together (which is what I recommend) or enjoy the vanilla yogurt first and finish with the chocolate. It's become one of my regular mid-morning snacks at work, and it's great for chocolate-lovers who are trying to satisfy their cravings in a healthy, natural way. Stonyfield offers a variety of organic foods and beverages. They print codes on the packages of their products that can be redeemed for rewards on the website. Check out Stonyfield on their website and Facebook page to get more information and coupons for their products!

From accountant to fashionista: Beth Iovino aka Mama Io is the creator of Mio Bags, which are, as she describes them, FUNctional! Beth handcrafts amazing products that include a variety of handbags, a lunch tote bag and reusable snack setwine totes, and even an entire organized shopping system! The best part about Beth's products is that the customer is the designer! You choose from a variety of oilcloth fabrics and she customizes your purchase. I came across Mio Bags thanks to a Groupon I found, and the rest is history. I've placed multiple orders with her, and loved every one of them. I even had a trunk show party at my house for some friends, which produced several more satisfied customers! Beth's dedication to her work shows in all the beautiful pieces she creates. Check out her website, or find her on Facebook and Twitter.

eos Products - lip balm smooth sphere

When my future mother in law put a sphere of lip balm in my Christmas stocking, she sparked my obsession with this product! eos (evolution of smooth) has amazing lip balms that I have been promoting left and right. What makes them so wonderful? Well, besides their innovative spherical design that allows the product to glide smoothly onto lips, they do what no other lip balm can do: they help chapped lips AND taste delicious. After a few trips to a variety of drugstores, I purchased one in every flavor (summer fruit, lemon drop spf 15, strawberry sorbet, honeysuckle honeydew, medicated tangerine, and sweet mint) and have strategically placed them so I will never go without! There's one in my car, the truck of my fiance (who loves the lip balm as well, so gentlemen, don't be afraid to give it a try!), my purse, my work bag, the makeup drawer in my bathroom, and in my desk at work. Check out the eos website and give them a try!
